PEG-MGF
(Pegylated Mechano Growth Factor)
PEG-MGF is a synthetic, pegylated analog of mechano growth factor, a splice variant of IGF-1 that is naturally produced in response to mechanical stress and muscle damage. It is widely studied for its potential applications in muscle repair, hypertrophy, and tissue regeneration. Areas of ongoing research include:
-
Muscle Recovery and Repair
PEG-MGF is being investigated for its role in promoting muscle fiber regeneration following injury or mechanical overload. -
Anabolic Support
Researchers are exploring its potential to stimulate muscle satellite cell activation and support lean mass development. -
Extended Activity and Systemic Delivery
The pegylated form of MGF is being studied for its longer half-life and enhanced bioavailability in systemic circulation.
How It Works
PEG-MGF is a modified form of mechano growth factor, itself a variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). Naturally, MGF is expressed in muscle tissue in response to mechanical loading or damage and plays a role in initiating local repair by activating satellite cells. The PEGylation process extends the peptide’s half-life, allowing for wider distribution and longer activity in vivo. This makes PEG-MGF a compelling compound in research involving muscle wasting, recovery from trauma, or performance-related muscle remodeling.
